At the end of a successful 2004 race season we decided to rebuild our March 793 at the Delta Motor Sport workshop.
The car was completely stripped down to the last nut, bold and rivet.
Frank Gomm form Gomm Fabrications folded the new Monocoque , centre well and outer skins. We then set up a flat bed and set about cleaning all the castings and front and rear bulkheads.
The panels were all drilled and the monocoque was assembled with skin pins. Throughout this procedure the tub was checked to be square on the flat bed.
Final preparation i.e. de burring all the drill holes, cleaning and de greasing.
We use a 3M glue on all the fixed panels and castings then finally solid rivets to complete the final fix.
The gearbox was sent to PDS Racing to be rebuilt and Delta Motor Sport started the engine rebuild.
The engine rebuild will include new pistons (Arias Pistons). Crank, flywheel and cutch polished and balanced. Head stripped down. All valves and seats checked before re assembly with clearances adjusted with shims.
A slideshow of photographs of the rebuild can be seen here.
| Here is the end result of our labours with pictures taken at Thruxton on our first prepared outing. Pole position, 2nd overall, fastest lap. Not a bad shakedown! | |
